Crime Prevention
"Crime Prevention is a pattern of attitudes
and behaviors directed both at reducing the threat of crime and
enhancing the sense of safety and security, to positively enhance
the quality of life in our society and to help develop environments
where crime cannot flourish."
National Crime Prevention Coalition
The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department's Crime Prevention
Program is dedicated to reducing crime and promoting safety within
the township through proactive community based programs and problem
solving. Examples of such methods are neighborhood and Business
watch Organizations, and providing various training seminars and
lectures to local businesses, residents, hospitals, schools and
colleges.
Crime prevention is based on a shared sense of responsibility and a
partnership between the Police Department and the community. Crime
Prevention is a part of the overall Community Policing philosophy of
the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
Police Officer Ralph Cropley is the Town of Poughkeepsie's Crime
