OPERATION "TIPS" 485-8477
What is Operation "TIPS"?
Operation 'TIPS" is a 24 hour information hotline
operated by the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
The main purpose is to encourage public participation in
fighting crime and to assist the Police Department by
providing information about any kind of criminal
activity.
When
do you dial 485-TIPS?
You
should call 485-TIPS (8477) anytime that you have
information on any criminal activity that has occurred,
or might occur in the near future, and which might be of
value to the police in solving certain crimes.
How
does Operation 'TIPS" work?
Operation "TIPS" is in operation 24 hours a day, seven
days a week. When you call "TIPS" you will be asked to
leave your message or information on a telephone
answering machine that will be checked frequently.
You may
leave your name, but it is not required. All information
you give will remain strictly confidential, and will be
referred immediately to the proper unit of the Town of
Poughkeepsie Police Department, where it will be
thoroughly investigated.
