The mission of the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department is to provide twenty-four-hour police coverage to both the residents of the Town of Poughkeepsie and to those people who are traveling through our jurisdiction. Whether you are a resident or visitor, you are part of our community, and we are dedicated to serving and protecting the people in our community. Our department officers are strong supporters of community policing and intelligence-based policing. We are always looking to strengthen the partnership between the community and our police department by communicating and working together. Our highly skilled department of both sworn and civilian, professional men, and women, understand the complexities of modern policing and work tirelessly to protect our community. 
 
Public safety is the duty and responsibility of every citizen in the interest of community welfare, and we will partner with those willing and able to create strategies to prevent and reduce crime. We welcome your comments, feedback, and suggestions.
